Eligibility for admission
Students should have cleared 12th standard or Higher
school / Senior Secondary /
equivalent examination from any government recognized educational
institution. As we have limited number of seats enrolment in the courses is limited and
is based on
interview by the instructors / gemologist / committee from time to time. However, OSG reserves
the right of selection.

Medium for training and exam
The language medium for training, lectures and
examinations for the OSG certificate courses is English.

Age for the students
The minimum age of the student to enroll is 16
years. But there is no maximum age limit for the course.

How to apply
Registration
The students have to register for admission by
submitting the completely filled application
form . After this, we will inform the students the exact date of
start of the course and interview date.

OSG Certificate
After the successful completion of various Exams.
The students must pass a practical examination in Gemstone
Identification and a written examination in theory for Course
No.1 .
For Course No.2 a written examination in theory and a
practical examination in Diamond Grading must be passed.
Similarly for course No.3 and for course No.4 a written examination in theory and
practical examination in advanced gem identification must be
passed.
The passing grade for practical examinations is 80% and
written examination is 75%
Only on successful completion of the course the student will
be
awarded by the OSG CERTIFICATE IN GEMOLOGY.

The faculty and laboratory
The training for the OSG Course(s) is carried out by good and well qualified gemologist.
The Gemologist - Instructor teaches the students in theoretical and practical aspects of Gemology.
Their lectures and practical training forms the basis of the courses.
The lab is well equipped with all the necessary equipments required for practical training.
We also keep a stock of gemstone / rough / minerals and other materials required for practical demonstrations.
The size of the class is limited so that each student receives personal attention.
However, it is necessary for all the students to attend classes daily and work hard to succeed.

General rules and regulations
- Students should handle the Gemstones / rough / minerals and
other materials given
to them for practical's carefully and not indulge in carelessness
or deliberate misplacement.
- The instruments, gadgets and other working equipment and
materials at the institute and laboratory are costly and
sophisticated, therefore great care must be taken while using
and handling them.
- The students are required to have 80% attendance in order to
qualify for the OSG Examination. The subject matter taken up
once in the class shall not be repeated. The students who are
absent or miss the subject matter may cover it up with the help
of their class fellows. In exceptional cases the
instructor/management may consider the case on its merits or
circumstances.
- The students are in addition to follow general discipline
and etiquette and other rules and regulations which come up from
time to time. The students who do not adhere to disciplinary
requirements and rules and regulations are liable to be
disqualified from the institute.
- Classes are subject to Government and other holidays of the
institute.
- On rare occasions OSG may be forced to
postpone/reschedule/or cancel a course. Outstation candidates
must therefore confirm the exact date of start one week before
the scheduled date. The course shall be started only if the
required minimum number of candidates is achieved. The institute
shall not be responsible for any liability whatsoever arising
out of such a situation.
- The duration timings and starting dates of the courses
given in the Tentative Schedule of Duration, Timings and
Starting dates are subject to change from time to time.
Therefore these must be confirmed before start of each session.
