Symmetry Features

Symmetry faults are irregularities in the cut caused during cutting.

Determination of proportions includes the following measurable symmetry features:

Symmetry features are examined visually under 10 x magnification and judged according to degree of discernibility. Thus:

Crown Deviation from circular shape
Tilted table
Eccentric table
Wavy table edges
Truncated main facets
Main- facets too short
Transposed facet edges
Facets of unequal size
Girdle Girdle with unequal thicknesses
Wavy girdle
Edge displacement at girdle
Pavilion Truncated main facets
Main facets too short
Girdle facets of unequal lengths
Facets of unequal size
Appearance of the culets
