and scientific areas which go beyond the limits of this practical handbook.
Hence only the most important methods of treatment of commercial importance
are mentioned here, while the means of identification are shown with the
aids available to a diamond specialist. In case of doubt, therefore, it
is advisable to send a colored diamond to a professional diamond testing
centre or a gemological laboratory operating on a scientific basis, so
that its natural or artificial color can be determined.
