The instrument is fitted with an optical system
from Zeiss, Jena and is suitable for the examination of diamonds
and color grading. Magnification is stepless, from 10 x to 50
x, and expandable to 160 x. The stones are kept visible in the
new stone tongs. The built-in cold-light source with double
armed flexible fiber optic conductor facilitates examination of
set stones. A newly developed dark-field illumination provides
dazzle-free light. Inclusions are clearly visible. The
instrument can be easily converted to an immersion microscope.
